Headboards

When looking for a headboard, some customers know just what they want; others need a helping hand with design decisions. I can assist with throwing ideas around, looking at inspiration and offering up fabrics and trim for consideration. I will work with you to create something beautiful and timeless, of the highest quality, to reflect the character of your home.

Decisions you need to make:

Shape

Here are some ideas for you. However, we make all headboards bespoke and can work to any template that you want - we love a challenge!

Size

Single/double/king/superking - that’s the easy part! The height that will suit will depend on the proportions that work with your bed height and your chosen shape. If in doubt, trialling something in cardboard for a week or so is a good idea. I can help you make templates if you are not the creative type.

What’s in my headboard?

You won’t find any foam on headboards coming out of this workshop, which is better for your health and for the environment. Natural materials that still meet national guidelines for fire safety are beautiful, comfortable and safe. Yes - the prices are marginally higher for these natural materials - but in my opinion the risk to your health of cheaper materials does not make that a good compromise.

How do I fit it?

Headboards over 75cm must be fitted to the wall behind the bed with a french cleat which is easy to install and can support a larger headboard frame. You simply slot the headboard onto a rail which is fitted onto the wall, creating a flush finish that is structurally separate from the bed (a more discrete option for romantics…).

Headboards that are lower in profile can be wall mounted or fitted to a divan with struts, but can still be wall-mounted with cleats.
